With a deep-rooted passion in physical activity, Mari-Anne studied at the University of Colorado, Boulder as an athletic scholar, graduating in Applied Physiology in 1995 and more recently graduating with a MSc in Applied Exercise Physiology in 2020.
Mari-Anne started her career as a Personal trainer and fitness instructor, developing skills and gaining qualifications in exercising with cancer, back care, diabetes management, GP referral, Pilates, ante/post-natal care and Remedial Massage Therapy.
Within the NHS, she has run workshops on women’s health a set up GP practice-based exercise classes. During her 25-year career, Mari-Anne has worked within a clinical setting, treating a vast array of muscular skeletal complaints on both an exercise rehabilitation and remedial massage basis.
She came to Pilates following a disc prolapse, using exercise rehabilitation to enable herself to return to full activity.
Mari-Anne’s love of movement and craving to learn more led her to study her masters at the University of Brighton. The course expanded her skillsets in both applied, clinical and exercise physiology, completing the course with a dissertation on ‘physiological responses of a breast cancer survivor to an exercise intervention after cancer therapies’.
